Payne’s first solo single, featuring Quavo, debuts at No. 1 on the chart.
Liam Payne’s “Strip That Down,” featuring Quavo, debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard + Twitter Top Tracks chart (dated June 3), earning the former One Direction singer his first chart-topper and chart entry on the list.
Billboard + Twitter Top Tracks is a weekly ranking of the most shared and/or mentioned songs on Twitter in the U.S., ranked by the volume of shares over a seven-day period (Monday to Sunday).
The track also helps Payne become the fourth member of One Direction to have a solo No. 1 Top Tracks single. Zayn nabbed a solo No. 1 on Top Tracks first in April 2016 with “Befour,” followed by Niall Horan in October with “This Town,” then Harry Styles last month with “Sign of the Times.” As a group, One Direction is tied for the most No. 1 hits on the chart, seven, with Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande.
“Strip That Down” opens at No. 1 thanks, in large part, to its lyric video premiere on May 19. The video has earned more than 5 million global views since its release.
